3. The personal data we collect

We may collect and process the following categories of personal data about you.

Information you provide to us: when you complete the contact form on the Website, send us an email, write to us, call us or otherwise communicate with us, you may provide us with personal data such as your name, employer or organisation, email address, telephone number, postal address, the subject of your enquiry and any other information you choose to share in your message.

Information we collect automatically: when you visit the Website, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical information about your device and your interaction with the Website, including your IP address, browser type and version, time zone setting, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit. This information is collected through cookies and similar technologies as described in section 9 below.

Information we receive from third parties: we may receive personal data about you from third parties such as our joint venture partners, professional advisers, agents, business introducers, publicly available sources (including Companies House, the Guernsey Registry, the Land Registry, sanctions and PEP screening providers) and other third parties where you have given them permission to share that information with us.

We do not deliberately collect any special category personal data through the Website. Please do not submit special category personal data (such as data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health information or data concerning sexual orientation) through the contact form or by email unless we have specifically requested it.

4. How we use your personal data and our lawful bases

We use your personal data for the purposes set out below. For each purpose we identify the lawful basis on which we rely.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in managing enquiries and the running of our business, and where appropriate, taking steps at your request prior to entering into a contract.

Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in operating and developing our investment business.

Due diligence and compliance: to carry out know-your-customer, anti-money laundering, sanctions, politically exposed person and other screening checks where required, and to comply with applicable laws and regulatory obligations. Lawful basis: compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests in protecting our business, and where appropriate, public interest.

Website operation and improvement: to operate, maintain, secure and improve the Website, analyse usage, diagnose technical issues, and protect against fraud and unauthorised activity. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running and improving the Website and keeping it secure, and your consent where required for non-essential cookies.

Marketing communications: to send you information about SecureHome, our group companies, our investment activity and matters we think may be of interest to you. We will only send you marketing communications where you have asked us to do so or where the law otherwise allows. You can opt out at any time. Lawful basis: your consent or our legitimate interests in promoting our business.

Legal claims and disputes: to establish, exercise or defend legal claims and to protect our rights and the rights of others. Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in protecting our business and, where applicable, compliance with a legal obligation.

If you are based in the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, "legitimate interests" means our legitimate business interests in carrying on the activities described in this Privacy Policy, assessed against your rights and interests. You have the right to object to processing on this basis at any time (see section 8 below).

5. Who we share your personal data with

We may share your personal data with the following categories of recipient.

Our group companies: we share personal data within the SecureHome group for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy and to manage our business and operations.

Joint venture partners: where relevant to your enquiry or relationship with us, we may share personal data with our joint venture partners, including Fortix Capital and our partners at Watson's Property.

Service providers: we use third party service providers to support our business, including website hosting, email and IT services, customer relationship management, professional advisers (lawyers, accountants, auditors, tax advisers), banks and financial institutions, and screening and compliance providers. These providers only process personal data on our instructions and are bound by appropriate confidentiality and data protection obligations.

Regulators, authorities and law enforcement: where required by law or regulation, in response to a lawful request, or to protect our rights and the rights of others.

Buyers, sellers, counterparties and advisers in transactions: where relevant to a transaction or proposed transaction, including in connection with any sale, merger, restructuring or financing of our group or any part of it.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

6. International transfers

Some of the recipients of your personal data may be located outside the jurisdiction in which you are based. In particular, personal data collected through the Website may be transferred between Guernsey and the United Kingdom, and may be processed by service providers based elsewhere.

7. How long we keep your personal data

  • Contact form submissions and general enquiries that do not lead to an ongoing relationship are kept for up to 24 months from the date of the enquiry.
